I am super happy to say that a friend of mine, Dejan Patrcevic, has placed 8th at Ironman 70.3 St. Pölten.
Check out the Ironman 70.3 St. Pölten results and Dejan Patrcevic blog (in Croatian).
Massimo Cigana won with an amazing combination of second bike (he was a PRO cyclist at Mercatone team) and fastest run at 1:13:35. However Dejan had the third fastest run to finish a bit more than six minutes after the Italian winner. I am guessing Cigana and Patrcevic will meet each other in more races as they focus on the same area of the world.
Andersson Björn had the fasetst bike split with 2:07:04 (amazing 5mins faster than second fastest bike by Massimo Cigana) but followed it with a usually for him slow run and finished second overall.
I would like to add that this is Patrcevic’s first season with full focus on Ironman and that this race was only a test race for him. He will have much imrovement in seasons to come although I also expect great results from him at Ironman Austria. He tried this race twice several years ago and both times had technical problems that prevented him from giving 100%. I hope this season everything works out for him and he kicks ass in Klagenfurt.
