I did not take part because I was sick for a month and have just started getting back into training. I am super sorry I did not have a chance to take part and I also decided not to support cause I wanted to focus on training and not travelling.

I am annoyed that Bella Camerford and Stephen Bayliss have won - they are or were both coached by Brett Sutton (read my article about him here) and are members of Team TBB (teamtbb.com) where Brett Sutton is the main coach. They are clearly associated with him. I would like that Ironman as a sport is 100% cleared from this guy, Brett Sutton, and it annoys me that his athletes keep showing up at races at all, not to mention win races.

It seems that the decision to move the race to April was good, the swim times are fast/normal due to lack of usual wind and current. I will get more race reports during the week and I will try to get as much as info on the race on this blog.

Congratulations to Amber Monforte for placing 8th in her first ever Ironman - she has just quit her job as a nurse in Nevada, USA, and came to race at Ironman South Africa. She also won F25-29 age group. I will chear for her in Hawaii this year.

Ironman South Africa is definitely getting bigger and bigger. It is a great race and deserves the attention.
